I set my training schedule for the half marathon and it looks quite daunting. 13.1 miles is a long way to run, but I think I can do it. I look back to January when I had trouble going a mile and then in May when I finished a 5K in under 30 minutes and think that I can do it, but it seems like such a tough thing to do that I am wondering if I bit off more than I can chew. Only time will tell, I should know if I am going to be ready by the end of July, if I can run a 10K at pace then, I should be able to keep going with the training and get to the Half Marathon. This is going to be a big event and I hope that I will be ready.
I am putting so much effort into the fitness right now for two reasons. First, I am stuck at a plateau on the weight and really want to break below the 255 mark. Second, I can not afford to fly right now and this is keeping me focused on that goal as well. When I started this healthy lifestyle change and preparing to fly, I opined about the value of having multiple goals, I can focus on one when progress in the other is stalled. That rings true still as the half marathon training is a long term plan to achieve my fitness goal, the only one I can really afford right now. Even that is expensive, I have to go buy a new suit this week. My old ones do not fit and look bad on me. I was hoping I could put off that expense for a while, but it does not look like that will be the case, I need to get a new suit, so, there goes another $150. Oh well, better than needing to buy a new suit because I am too big for the old ones.
