I am really excited to get back into the routine today. I haven't been to the gym in two weeks and am going back today, despite a little pain that is disappointingly lingering in my left foot. I really want to go running again and I hope I can do that today.
The weather out here has changed drastically in the last week. It went from highs in the 70's to over 100 degree highs this week. The central valley is known for blistering heat in the summer and we have been lucky so far in that the heat has come late, but it is here now. The hard part about that is working outside really takes its toll on you. I am a little sunburned despite layering the sunscreen. On top of that, being outside working is torture after about 10 a.m. and constant water and shade breaks are necessary. On the plus side, the yard work is coming along. On the negative side, there is still a lot to do in this heat.
The outdoor work is a blessing is disguise right now though. It is serving to really keep my mind off of flying. Don't get me wrong, I really want to get back in to flying, but I just can't afford it right now and I get a little depressed when I think about it. Keeping my mind off of it right now is the best thing to do. The reason I didn't want to tell anyone about my flight training is that I was worried this would happen, I would not be able to do it. I know I will complete my flight training, but the outlook for that is bleak right now. So, I will stick to yard work to keep my mind off of flying for now.
